How To Install Adoored Magnetic Door Stop

Yeah, but how do I use the IDriver to achieve this – completely new to this:) We really need more information. What part are you stuck? Do you have driver bits that fit the screws?

(You need a longish one if it is a standard plastic type of doorstop) What type of doorstop is it? Visual Studio 2010 Sp1 Iso Full Download. What are you attaching it to?

Can you get the driver bits in to the driver? Even when you get to the part where you drive the screw you need to get a piece of scrap wood and a few screws to practice so you don' mess up the actual job. We really need more information. What part are you stuck?

Thanks – we have a Ryobi 18V ID, I need to get the appropriate drill bit it seems, Bunnings should be able to help?? Doorstop like so ->Yip, plan to practice on some scrap wood.

Thanks for actually taking my post seriously. Doorstop like so Three screws to hold it on. They will be Phillips head (like a + sign) and supplied with door stop. You will need a Phillips head bit from the hardware store. One might have come with your Ryobi as Phillips is very common now. It is well suited for use with powered drivers. Lots of people put those type of stops on the skirting board but it makes vacumming around there a bit difficult.

I prefer to put it on the door but it can be hard to find somewhere solid enough on modern hollow core doors. Ok, given your complete lack of experience on anything woodwork or tools & a new home & presumably potentual to do more work around the home, instead of buying the screwdriver bit for your drill, I'd recomend you buy yourself a full set of stanley magnetic soft handle screwdrivers. You'll only use a couple of these extensively, but the price for the full set is equal to about 2 screwdrivers, so the set will be good to have long term. Magnetic head isn't necessary for most jobs, but it's a bit easier so for your level of experience I think worth it, same with the soft handles. When choosing a screwdriver for any job, if in doubt go bigger not smaller. People without experience often think they need a smaller screwdriver if they're having trouble getting it to grip, but normally that's a sign that you need bigger not smaller. A 2 point screwdriver bit will be the size you'll need for most jobs, like the one you're doing here.

Made by Adoored and with a quality finish, these magnet door stops hold doors open and prevent them from damaging adjacent internal walls. Installation is quick and easy and the sleek and simple design will not intrude on decor. Quick and easy installation; Prevents wall damage; Quality design and appearance.

Drill the holes with your Ryobi, but then switch to the stanley screwdriver to screw the screws in. Drill bit on an electric device is going to get away from you & go to fast if you're not used to tools, plus using a manual screwdriver will start to give you a feel of how materials feel & the more experience you get with this, the easier future jobs will be. Make sure the holes you drill are a little smaller than the screws. Hold & roll the screws next to the drill bit between your fingers & thumb, find the drill bit that feels & looks to be about the same size & then go down 1-2 drill bit sizes & drill the holes with that drill bit. To start with go 2 sizes down (maybe even 3), because you can widen the hole later, you can't shrink it again (well not easily).

When you start screwing the screws in with the screwdriver, if it gets too hard to turn, unscrew it & redrill the hole with the drill bit one size bigger. If it goes in comfortably with good grip, then you have the right size drill bit to screw size. There are sometimes lists/instructions that tell you what size drill bit to use with the screws, if this is the case, for first time drilling I'd still go down one size smaller to start off because if you wobble the drill lots, you'll end up with a hole bigger than an experienced person would have with the same size drill bit. Use these guides, but still practice the finger size test so you get a feel for it. There's other more 'professional' ways to check sizes, but this is the easiest with least tools needed in practical scenarios. While on this guys is it best to attach a door stop to the door or the skirting board.

I choose whichever is going to get kicked least:) Can depend on the settings, mostly I find the skirting board (or floor), but sometimes you look at that location & think kids running through/playing are going to hit that where it will be & less likely to hit it if on the door (normally though an extra lump on a moving door's more likely to be in the way) If attaching to the door, make sure it's got a hard surface to hit won't you! Don't set it up to be hitting on a standard gyprock wall or it will go through it over time!
